Some Chicagoans help with the wildfires

About three dozen Red Cross volunteers from Chicago are now in California to help with the wildfire relief efforts.
Susan Turnbull is one of them and told WLS what she noticed when she arrived in San Diego.
"It's just an incredible smoke - smoke - smell and then when you're driving it looks like a war zone. You look around you, in the surrounding areas, and there's just smoke and there's flames," said Turnbull.
Turnbull says there are 38 shelters open in the San Diego area alone and thousands of evacuees, so they're concerned about making sure those people have a roof over their head, food, water and medical attention....
"In Chicago we have many single family fires that the Red Cross responds to. In that event, you know, the house burns down and we go and we help the people and then it's kind of over with. But here you look around you and it's almost like the entire city is burning around you and it goes on and on and on," said Turnbull.
Turnbull says if you're trying to find out about loved ones...and have had trouble finding them...you can call 1-866-get-info or log onto...www.safeandwell.org.
