Frequently Asked Questions

Before you email a question/comment/critique/suggestion to the Webmaster, check out the list of Frequently Asked Questions below and see if it's already been brought up. You might be able to save yourself having to wait for a response!

(If you have a problem with the RealAudio stream, try the good folks at RealAudio Tech Support first.)

That said, your email is always welcome. (Any email you send, unless you request otherwise, may be posted to these pages.)

FAQ:

1. What's wrong with the audiostream?

Probably something -- with new technology always comes new problems. If you're having trouble with it, write in -- please specify your ISP, operating system, and streaming format (Real, WMA, .MP3).

2. How do I call in to…

…the locally produced shows? Call 312.591.8900. (Fax number is 312.984.5283)

…Rush Limbaugh? Call 1-800-282-2882 during the program.

…Sean Hannity? Call 1-800-941-SEAN between two and five p.m.

…Dr. Dean Edell? Call 1-800-548-8255 between three and four p.m.

…Kim Komando? Call 1-888-825-5254 between nine a.m. and noon Saturdays.

…Bob Brinker? Call 1-800-934-2221 during the program.

3. What music is…

…the Canarble Wagon theme? "One Bourbon One Scotch One Beer," off the 1977 album George Thorogood and the Destroyers.

…Roe's theme music? "Lust for Life," by Iggy Pop, off the Trainspotting soundtrack.

…the bumper music? There are well over two hundred different pieces of bumper music. Call 312-591-8900 when you hear the cut for which you want a title and artist.

...Deborah Rowe's music? "Walking On Sunshine," by Katrina and The Waves, "Higher Ground," by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, "Everybody Knows," by Leonard Cohen

(And Deborah's Mr. Rogers closing cut - where he says "I thought Deborah said it better than anyone I've ever heard" - is Mr. Rogers himself, commenting on Deborah's synopsis of a book he wrote. He said that Deborah explained it exactly as he wanted people to view it, and that no other radio or TV host did it that way.)

4. What's the phone number in that commercial?

Call 312-591-8900 with the name of the sponsor. If you don't know the name, you need to know what time and what day you heard the commercial. (We cannot help you if you call us and say, "I heard a commercial for either sweater buttons or fresh fish sometime in February." We can help you if you say, "I heard a commercial for a steakhouse at 12:42 p.m. on Thursday", or "What's the phone number for Volunteers of America of Illinois?"

5. Who was that guest on that show?

Again, as with sponsors, make note of the date and time and we can help you. Calling during the show the guest was on is ideal - if you heard someone talking about her new book on Roe's program during the four p.m. hour on Thursday, call 312-591-8900 during Roe's program and ask.

6. Why don't you get rid of Rush/Drudge/George Noory/etc.?

Programming decisions, including specific shows and talent, are management decisions, usually based on ratings, research, and contractual commitments. Your comments on this topic are forwarded to the programming management staff for their information and consideration.

7. Why don't you bring back Bob Lassiter/Larry Lujack/etc.?

See the answer to question #6.

8. I have a tip or a breaking story for the news department. Whom do I call?

Call the newsroom - 312-357-1389.

9. When are you going to PodCast?

Podcasts of WLS shows are coming soon. In the meantime, WLS Currently offers WLS On Demand, downloadable MP3 files of sections of our local shows. Please visit the WLS on Demand section of this website.

10. Where is Bob Brinker?

During College Football season, we will sometimes have to not air Bob Brinker or other weekend shows that are on during the same time as Notre Dame games. There is no time table as to if or when we may rebroadcast Bob Brinker. Until then, might we suggest, http://www.moneytalk-ondemand.com

11. Why are you off the air?

In order to improve and maintain the quality of our signal, we occasionally need to go off the air to perform routine maintenance on our broadcast tower. Please understand, we do not want to go off the air, and it's nothing personal against the host who gets pre-empted. We apologize to you for not being able to hear your favorite talk show host. We wish there was another way around it, but unfortunately there is not.

12. I have suggestions for this FAQ. Whom do I tell?
