Inside Iraq: The Untold Stories (Category)
The Paramount Theatre is pleased to present the highly thought-provoking documentary film entitled Inside Iraq: The Untold Stories at the Copley Theatre, in the North Island Center, 8 E. Attend this free photo exhibit at the Loyola University Chicago School of Communication. Witness the emotional impact of war through the lenses of award-winning photojournalists Ron Haviv, Antonin Kratochvil, Christopher Morris, James Nachtwey and Franco Pagetti. This exhibit is hosted by the Greater Chicago Red Cross, presented by the International Committee of the Red Cross, in collaboration with VII Photo Agency and the Newseum.
Little Builders Exhibition arrives at Kohl Children’s Museum (Museum)

“Construction” starts at Kohl Children’s Museum of Greater Chicago on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009 with the arrival of the Little Builders exhibition. Aimed at teaching children the ropes of a builder’s world, the new science exhibition uses interactive activities and construction scenarios to teach children about building. Little Builders encourages children to use the tools offered in their own unique way, giving them the chance to grow creatively and allowing them to personalize their experience. As part of the Little Builders exhibition, children are given the opportunity to dress in a hard hat and orange safety vest before entering the exhibit. For added fun and a more genuine role-playing experience, children are also given a push cart and orange cones to use during their time in the exhibit. The exhibition closes Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010.
Kohl Children’s Museum’s 3rd Annual “Turkey Trot” Family Festival (Festival)

Kohl Children’s Museum’s 3rd annual “Turkey Trot” fundraiser brings a morning of family fun to the Museum with a variety of games, arts and crafts, live musical entertainment, bounce houses, food and exercise, Sunday, Nov. 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.As part of the “Turkey Trot” family event, children of all ages will walk a course around Habitat Park, the Museum’s outdoor exhibit. Each participant will receive a runner number, stickers for each lap they complete and a golden turkey trophy for their efforts. All attendees will also receive free access to the Museum that day. To participate, families can sign up at www.kohlchildrensmusuem.org/trot. Tickets are $35 per family (up to 6) in advance, or $45 at the door.All proceeds benefit the Museum and its valuable programs.
16th SOFA CHICAGO 2009 (Arts and Crafts)

Celebrating its 16th year, SOFA CHICAGO 2009, the critically acclaimed Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fair, returns to Navy Pier's Festival Hall (600 E. Grand Avenue) Nov. 6 - 8 to present masterworks from top international galleries and dealers. The Chicago fair will also feature special exhibits by renowned museums, universities and arts organizations, as well an extensive lecture series, all included in the admission price. Debuting this year is SOLO at SOFA, dedicated spaces on the show floor featuring cutting-edge installations by individual artists outside of the more formal structure of the representing gallery's exhibit booth.
