(CHICAGO) Bond was set at $400,000 for a Greater Grand Crossing man who allegedly attempted to run over a police officer Thursday on the South Side.
Roderick Moore, 45, of the 7700 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue, was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, two counts of aggravated battery with use of a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle and aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle, according to police News Affairs.
Officers made a traffic stop near 75th and State streets about 11:10 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.
The driver hit one of the officers with the vehicle, Estrada said. The officer was not seriously injured.
One of the officers on the scene fired shots at the vehicle as it took off, but no one was hit by the gunfire, Estrada said. After a brief pursuit, the vehicle was again stopped near 78th and King Drive and two people were questioned by police.
The second person, a passenger in the vehicle, was not charged.
