1 dead, 2 critical after Dan Ryan crash

One person is dead and two others were critically injured in a crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side Sunday afternoon, state police said.
 
The pin-in crash happened at 95th Street on the inbound Dan Ryan about 2 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.
 
A man in his 70s lost control of the SUV he was driving and struck a sedan parked on the right shoulder of the expressway, Illinois State Police District Chicago Master Sgt. Robert Satkiewicz.
 
One person inside the sedan was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he was pronounced dead, Satkiewicz said.
 
A second person inside the sedan and a third person outside the sedan were taken to Stroger, Satkiewicz said. Both were listed in serious to critical condition, according to Fire Media Affairs.
 
The elderly driver was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for observation, Satkiewicz said.
 
Alcohol and drugs were not believed to have played a role in the crash, Satkiewicz said.
 
Two of five lanes of traffic were blocked due to the crash, Satkiewicz said.
