(AURORA) One person was killed, and three others were hospitalized after a vehicle went off a Reagan Memorial Tollway/Interstate 88 ramp in west suburban Aurora Saturday night and became submerged in a retention pond.
The vehicle went into the water around 7:30 p.m. off an eastbound I-88 exit ramp at Eola Road, Illinois State Police Trooper Michelle Kistulinec said.
Three of the four people in the car suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and were taken to a local hospital, State Police said.
After the vehicle was removed from the water, the ramp remained closed late into the night, authorities said.
Divers recovered the body of the fourth person from the water just before 3 a.m.
The person’s identity is not being released pending notification of relatives, State Police said.
