Two men were killed and at least six people wounded in shootings across the city since Friday night.
A 19-year-old man was shot and killed in the Humboldt Park neighborhood early Saturday, police said.
The man was standing in a group in the 3300 block of West Beach Avenue about 2:45 a.m. when two males came out of a nearby gangway and opened fire, striking him in the chest, police said.
The man was dead on the scene, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
Friday night, 34-year-old Kevin Sanders was shot and killed in the South Chicago neighborhood, police said.
Sanders was found about 11:10 p.m. in the 8700 block of South Burley Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso, authorities said.
Sanders, of the 8900 block of South Mackinaw Avenue, was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he later died, the medical examiner’s office said.
Six other people have been wounded in shootings since Friday night.
Early Saturday, a man was shot in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
The 31-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 8000 block of South Union Avenue about 3:35 a.m. when a man walked up and opened fire, police said.
He was struck in the back and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in “stable” condition, police said.
About 2:55 a.m., a man was shot in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.
The male, whose age was not immediately available, was shot in the left hip in the 1600 block of North Humboldt Boulevard, police said. He was taken to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in “stable” condition.
Three people were shot about 2:40 a.m. in the Northwest Side Irving Park neighborhood.
A vehicle was stopped at a red light in the 4200 block of West Irving Park Road when a light-colored sedan pulled up and a gunman got out and started shooting into the other vehicle, police said.
An 18-year-old man was shot in the head and right shoulder and taken to Norwegian-American Hospital, police said. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
A 22-year-old man was shot in the left and right thighs and taken to Norwegian-American Hospital, and also transferred to Stroger, police said.
A 19-year-old woman was shot in the right arm and taken to Norwegian-American Hospital in “stable” condition.
About 1:15 a.m., a man was seriously wounded in a shooting on the West Side.
The man, in his 30s, was shot while sitting in vehicle in an alley in the 2600 block of West Monroe Street, police said. He was struck in both arms and made it to Mount Sinai Hospital on his own, where he was listed in serious condition early Saturday.
No one was in custody for the shootings early Saturday as detectives investigate.
