A new intrigue in the race to replace Jesse Jr. is whether Mayor Emanuel is secretly backing Robin Kelly, the candidate who's getting so much financial backing from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Political pros doubt that Mayor Bloomberg would be pouring two million bucks into this race unless Mayor Emanuel gave him the green light.

Emanuel denies it and tells inquiring reporters what Bloomberg is doing is not unusual for him, "He has been consistent. He has followed through on what he said he was gonna do. I said upfront I was gonna stay out of this race. The voters will pick, but I wanna be clear about one thing-whoever wins has to be on team Chicago."

One thing we can say about candidate Robin Kelly is that she's on team Giannoulias as in Alexi Giannoulias, the basketball buddy of Barack Obama, whose Chief of Staff used to be Rahm Emanuel.

So it wouldn't be a stretch to think Rahm's really for Robin.
