(CHICAGO) A powerful alderman's plea to Governor Pat Quinn to set-aside allegations of friends and family contracting by the United Neighborhood Organization so the UNO Soccer Academy can get built by August is falling on deaf ears.
On Wednesday, Alderman Edward Burke called on Quinn to lift his ban on more millions for UNO, and on Thursday, Quinn said not yet.
“I want to see those children have a school they can go to, but right now what’s holding that back is an organization that has some conflict of interest challenges that must be resolved,” Quinn said.
And the governor said it’s as simple as that.
