Story by 89 WLS Reporter Bill Cameron
(CHICAGO) In an interview with WLS reporter Bill Cameron, former White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley, brother of the former mayor, sounds very much like a candidate for governor because of the failure of pension reform in Springfield last week.
Bill Daley says he’ll be announcing his decision whether to run for governor in a matter of days, a week at the most.
He says what happened in Springfield last week was “beyond the pale” and we need a governor who is “relevant” … but there’s also this:
Cameron: It’s probably the worst job in Illinois. Why would you want it?
Daley: (laughter) Ya know, somebody said, this is like when there’s a fire, do you run into it or are you smart enough to run away from it!”
But he said we need serious people to solve serious problems and while taping “Connected to Chicago” for Sunday morning at 6, Bill Daley was sounding like he’ll run, even if Lisa Madigan runs too.
