(CHICAGO) The President of Common Cause, church leader and former Congressman Bob Edgar has died.
Edgar had an Illinois connection. He was finance director for the late Senator Paul Simon’s bid for President back in 1988.
Edgar was back here last year as Common Cause President warning against expanding gambling here in Illinois.
“Simon once said gambling has more of a history of corruption than any other industry,” Edgar said.
Edgar died of a heart attack this week after collapsing during a workout on his treadmill at home in Virginia. He was only 69.
