(CHICAGO) The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence has filed a lawsuit on behalf of the family of slain Chicago Police Officer Thomas Wortham IV who was murdered with a "trafficked gun" outside his parents home in 2010.
This lawsuit claims that the “forseeable consequence” of a Mississippi pawn shop selling 8 semi-automatic guns to straw buyers was that someone like Wortham would be killed by criminals.
Wortham’s father Thomas broke down talking about the suit.
“While Tommy’s work was cut short (pause to compose himself) I want to do everything that we can to honor his memory and continue his commitment to make this community safe for everyone.”
But the other side says gun dealers can’t be blamed for selling legal products to people who misuse guns.
