A CTA bus crashed into a building and about 20 parked cars in the Logan Square neighborhood Friday morning when the bus driver lost consciousness.
The accident happened about 8:45 a.m., according to CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis. The No. 76 Diversey bus was westbound at Kedzie when the bus operator lost consciousness, Lukidis said.
The bus struck a building in the 2800 block of North Kedzie Avenue and hit approximately 20 parked vehicles, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said. No pedestrians or anyone in the cars were injured.
There were two passengers on the bus at the time of the crash, Estrada said. One of them, a female passenger, complained of injuries to her neck and shoulder and she was taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, Estrada said. Another passeneger was able to walk away, he said.
The bus driver, a 46-year-old man, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stable, Estrada said.
It was not known what sort of medical condition caused the bus driver to lose consciousness, Lukidis said.
