(CHICAGO) Only about 500 bad guys have registered and so Alderman Ed Burke persuaded a City Council committee to expand the number of criminals who have to register.

 

“Shouldn’t mom and dad when they are arranging for a playdate with their child’s classmate and that child might be going over to the classmate’s house, shouldn’t mom and dad have the opportunity to check whether or not a gun offender might be registered at that address,” Burke said.

 

In the meantime, in Washington, the proposal co-sponsored by Senators Durbin and Kirk to give bad guys up to 25 years in prison for buying guns for other bad guys was approved by a Senate committee.
