(CHICAGO) At Wednesday's City Council meeting, the aldermen will pass a resolution calling on commissioners of the major league sports to support and protect lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender athletes. The resolution got a hearing Tuesday.
The mood was serious until Chairman Joe Moore asked this question of transgender witness –Christina Kahrl of ESPN – with openly gay Alderman Tom Tunney of Wrigleyville looking on.
Moore: Do you think the cubs have any possibility of …
Tunney: I was just gonna leave here!
Moore: Of being a .500 team this year. Baby steps
Kahrl: Well, getting to .500 this year would not be a baby step unfortunately. (laughter).
