(CHICAGO) Dueling press conferences at City Hall today over the mayor's very controversial plan to close 54 schools.
A couple of dozen angry parents –including Adanette Temple- came to the mayor’s door here at the Hall to challenge him to walk the walk thru gang territories that children will have to walk to their new schools.
“Gangs are gonna interact with our children!” Temple said. “I don’t want to see no child hurt! So you need to walk that walk for the children of Chicago, for all schools! Walk that walk today!”
But the mayor and his school board say police and community groups will safeguard children, walking to and from schools and a group of business leaders also came to the mayor’s door to support his plan for school closings.
