Two men attempting to rob two people with baseball bats were thwarted by two off-duty police officers Friday in the South Side McKinley Park neighborhood.
Elias Martinez, 21, of the 2300 block of South Trumbull Avenue and Carlos Alvizo, 18, of the 5600 block of Homan Avenue, were each charged with two counts of armed robbery, police said.
The men tried to rob two people with a baseball ball but an off-duty Chicago Police officer and an off-duty Forest Park police officer saw the crime and arrested the suspects.
