(CHICAGO) The Red Line South Reconstruction project has begun. For the next five months, Red Line trains will be running from Howard to Ashland/63rd, the last leg of its trip being on Green Line tracks. Green Line routes are also being affected.
These are the Red Line stations which are now closed: Cermak-Chinatown, Sox-35th, 47th, Garfield, 63rd, 69th, 79th, 87th, and 95th/Dan Ryan.
Shuttle buses will be running from 4a.m. until 1a.m. daily. Express buses take you to the Garfield Green Line station where you can take a re-routed Red Line or a Green Line train north.
All shuttle bus stops will be marked with a red shuttle bus sign at the train stations. A map of all shuttle routes and stops can be found here (click image to enlarge).
Green Line service is also a bit different: most trains will go to Cottage Grove with some trains going between only Harlem/Lake and Roosevelt during mornings and some going from Harlem/Lake and the Loop during the evenings. More information about the Green Line can be found here.
And in case you need help planning your commute or trip during the Red Line South work, CTA has provided a trip planner here.
