At least 25 crashes have been reported on Chicago-area expressways as snow blankets the region Monday morning, according to Illinois State Police.
Among the accidents was a semi truck that jack-knifed on the outbound Kennedy Expressway near Addison Street, state police said. The accident caused right lanes on the expressway to be temporarily blocked, state police said, but all lanes were open as of 4:30 a.m.
No one was seriously injured in any of the 10 accidents, state police said.
In Chicago, the city’s full fleet of 284 snow plows were salting and clearing streets, city officials said. The plows will target main streets before they shift over to residential streets.
