An elderly man suffered first and second-degree burns Monday morning during a smoking-realted mishap that involved the man’s oxygen breathing tank, according to Fire Media Affairs.

 

The 67-year-old suffered the burns to his hands and face while at home in the 8800 block of South Burley Avenue on the South Side, according to Fire Media Affairs.

 

The man was smoking while using the oxygen tank to help him breathe, fire media said.

 

The man was taken in “stable” condition to University of Chicago Hospitals, according to fire media.
