(CHICAGO) Whaddya think? Should Mayor Rahm Emanuel have been here for every day of the flood last week?
Emanuel was conspicuously absent for a couple of days during the flood last week. When asked why, he said his staff was on the case.
“Well, ah, first of all, I was in touch at 2 to 3 in the morning, and I had the team in place to handle that,” Emanuel said. “And I had a scheduled event with President Clinton and a scheduled meeting with President Obama and other things.”
Emergencies can be politically risky for mayors, even if they’re here. Emanuel was willing to take the risk while not being here.
