(CHICAGO) Mayor Emanuel is not saying no to a ban on high energy drinks.
Alderman Ed Burke argues they’re dangerous because of their high levels of caffeine, and Emanuel says that’s a legitimate concern.
“The alderman and chairman did the right thing holding a hearing,” Emanuel said. “We’re going to gather all the information we need before we make a decision because I want to make sure if we do anything, that we’re doing it in our kids’ interest. It’s too early to say what we’re gonna do.I’m glad we had the hearing and got the issues on the table.”
But, even if they do nothing, the proposal has been a full employment opportunity for several politically connected lobbyists on both sides of the question.
