Evanston Police have released surveillance video of a suspect in a sexual assault crime, hoping the public can help identify him.
Evanston and Chicago Police Departments responded early Tuesday morning to the 1700 block of Howard St. in Evanston on a report that a criminal sexual assault had just occurred.
The Evanston Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect, who is described as a male black, 30 years old, dark complexion, thin build, wearing a baseball cap and black T-shirt.
The suspect can be seen in the video forcing the victim across the street in between moving traffic and into the gangway of the vacant building at 1717 Howard St. Moments later, the victim reemerges and runs west bound toward the intersection of Howard St. and Dodge Av. (California Av. in Chicago) and the suspect does not reappear.
Any passing motorist or pedestrian that traveled through that area at 6:00 AM on the morning of Tuesday, August 6 and may have seen something that would help identify the suspect is asked to contact the Evanston Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 847-866-5040.
