A 41-year-old Evanston man has been charged with a string of hair salon robberies that spanned Chicago and its suburbs in the past two months.

 

Jason Logsdon was arrested Monday afternoon by police, just hours after the latest reported salon robbery in Wicker Park.

 

According to authorities, a witness to the Wicker Park robbery got the license plate number of the car Logsdon drove away in. When Skokie police looked up the plate in their system, they learned they had pulled the car over twice in the past for minor traffic violations.

 

Skokie police located the car in Evanston soon after the incident. While they waited for Logsdon to be identified, they followed Logsdon to Elmhurst. Once they got word that Logsdon had been identified, they arrested him.

 

Authorities said the car was not Logsdon’s, and that the owner did not know what it was being used for.

 

In a press release sent Tuesday evening, Skokie police said charges were delayed because victims and witnesses from 15 different armed robberies in eight different cities and villages came to look at lineups and be interviewed.

 

Logsdon has been charged in 11 of the armed robberies, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office said.

 

Although there have been rumors that the suspect used a BB gun during the robberies, Skokie police would not confirm, and said information would come out in court. They did not provide a motive other than money. Between $100 and $800 was stolen in each incident, authorities said.

 

According to the state’s attorney’s office, five of the robberies took place in Chicago, two occurred in Skokie, two took place in Niles, one was committed in Morton Grove, and one was committed in Broadview.

 

The first robbery took place on Dec. 26, and the last was Monday, Feb. 4.

 

Logsdon was expected to appear in Skokie bond court Wednesday morning, and possibly in Chicago on Thursday.
