Four people, including 2 children, hurt in West Side fire

Four people were hospitalized after a fire broke out at an apartment building on the West Side Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responded to the fire at the two-story building in the 1000 block of North Leamington Avenue in the Austin neighborhood about 4:12 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.

The fire left an adult in critical condition at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Fire Media Affairs said.

Two children were taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where they were listed in serious condition, Fire Media Affairs said. Another adult was listed in serious condition at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park.
