(CHICAGO) Six people were arrested Thursday on drug charges as a result of an investigation which targeted heroin trafficking.
Operation Heroin Hotline was carried out on the near west side. It tracked an operation which was sort of like a scavenger hunt: customers called a number and placed their "order," were directed to a specific place, and had to call the same number again for a new location. They would eventually end up in the location with someone who had their heroin.
Five people have been arrested on federal charges and one on unrelated state charges. Two other men, Anthony Brown and Jimmie Sessons, managed to avoid being arrested and are now the focus of a nation-wide manhunt.
Operation Heroin Hotline began in 2009 and has resulted in nearly 750 grams of heroin being seized, as well as $21,000 and a car.
