(CHICAGO) In Springfield, an Illinois Senate committee has approved a new casino bill - including a Chicago casino - on a vote of 12-3.
The odds are a little better on this casino bill because State Senator Terry Link of Lake County changed the bill to give Governor Pat Quinn something he’s been demanding.
“Any license-holders or affiliates are not allowed to give contributions to elected officials or candidates,” Link said.
And the state gaming board would have more say over a Chicago casino than in previous versions. The bill is tempting because Link says it would produce one-billion, two-hundred-million dollars for the government upfront, with another quarter of a billion ongoing.
