Story by 89 WLS reporter John Dempsey
Rocker Ted Nugent is weighing in on the scourge of violence in Chicago.
Ted Nugent told Bruce Wolf and Dan Proft on WLS that members of Chicago's black community must abandon the so-called "no snitch" policy, which keeps people from cooperating with police, "The victims of violent crime in Chicago know who the murderers are. They know who the shooters are. And to cling to this 'no snitch' policy, while their neighbors and their fellow black friends are being slaughtered, is spiritual suicide"
Nugent, who is a well-known gun rights advocate, also decried increased efforts to pass gun control laws, saying that having more citizens armed, creates a safer society.
"Where there are more citizens with more firepower on their person, loaded, cocked, locked, and ready to rock, there is a dramatic reduction in violent crime," said Nugent. "These idiots who want to create more Chicagos, and more Mexicos.....Mexico's citizens are not allowed to get downwind of a gun and it's what, 65-thousand slaughtered people there? You just gotta be kidding me that these people continue to deny that."
Nugent was born in Detroit but went to high school in Northwest Suburban Palatine.
