A man who police say either fell or jumped from a moving taxicab near his home in the Northwest Side Irving Park neighborhood early last Saturday has died.

Matthew Suhar, 46, was in a taxicab that was northbound on Kimball Avenue near West Berteau Avenue about 12:35 a.m. last Saturday, March 9, police said.

While the taxi was still moving, he either fell or jumped out, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. Police and paramedics responded to the scene and found Suhar lying in the street, bleeding from his head, Mirabelli said.

He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was initially listed in serious but stable condition, according to Mirabelli.

Suhar, of the 3300 block of West Berteau, died at 3:09 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

An autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death was scheduled to be performed on Saturday.
