Mayor Emanuel gathered a group of fellow mayors around him and made a new gun control announcement.

Mayor Emanuel says in the last day he's recruited 22 more mayors to join Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

Interestingly, they do not say the other side is wrong when it argues gun control will never prevent a maniac from getting a gun. Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl said this, "Try holding the mother of a child who has been killed in your arms and be afraid to let her go because I thought she might shatter if I quit hugging her. Then you'll be happy to keep one murder from happening."

One City Hall observer called Mayor Emanuel's new gun control effort another example of Rahm never letting a crisis go to waste.
