First lady Michelle Obama is coming to Chicago to attend Saturday's funeral of Hadiya Pendleton.

Michelle Obama's visit is a bit of a surprise because it will bring more national attention to Mayor Rahm Emanuel's street violence problem.

Just before the announcement that the first lady is coming, the mayor was with reporters talking up his gun control agenda, "I will work aggressively, as I have in the past, to pass the Brady Bill and the assault weapons ban to make sure we have a comprehensive background check to keep criminal access to handguns restricted. Make sure we have a ban on assault weapons. Make sure we have a limitation on assault clips. Make sure we have tougher penalties."

The mayor said it in Englewood at Harper High School where security is so tight that the staircase to the second floor is literally caged.
