Story by 89 WLS reporter Bill Cameron
(CHICAGO) At City Hall, it’s a case of Democrats acting like Democrats. First, nine liberal aldermen announced their progressive reform caucus, and now 10 have announced their own reform caucus and have presumed to name it after the serious reformer Paul Douglas.
The formerly Independent alderman Joe Moore denied the mayor put him up to forming the rival group and claimed they’re not acting like disunited Democrats.
“Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no! There’s no disunity at all,” Moore said.
They do have a proposal to launch the group. Eliminate the City Council inspector general and give the city inspector general the power to investigate the aldermen, which will go nowhere.
