Story by 89 WLS reporter Bill Cameron
(CHICAGO) Another week is ending and there's still no deal to renovate Wrigley Field.
You’d think City Hall would say yes, please to any developer who wants to pour half-a-billion dollars into their business. But, in the case of the Ricketts and Wrigley Field, local Alderman Tom Tunney wants more parking and security around the ballpark and no more billboards in the ballpark.
And Tunney thinks the Ricketts can afford to meet his demands. “You’re talking about one of the wealthiest families in America! End of statement.”
Tunney says he won’t let the Ricketts renovate Wrigley on the backs of people in his community, and so far Mayor Emanuel is backing him. The question is, how long will the mayor back him?
