Story by 89 WLS reporter Bill Cameron
(LEMONT, Ill.) Scientists, politicians and media have gathered at Argonne National Labratory to hear President Obama propose a $2 billion trust fund to develop alternatives to gasoline.

Local congressman and pysicist Bill Foster says it could be a big deal. "Assuming it goes forward at that scale, it's going to provide real opportunities for a number of breakthrough technologies. The one that's most relevant here is batteries."

On the other hand, Republicans say the U.S. should keep drilling for oil domestically and get going on the Keystone Pipeline.
