One dead, two wounded in weekend shootings

One man is dead and at least two other people were wounded in weekend gun violence in Chicago.

Raymond Tucker, 24, was walking in the 1900 block of East 79th Street about 3:45 p.m. Friday when two men got out of a vehicle and one man shot him in the head before fleeing, authorities said.

Tucker, of the 7900 block of South Jeffery Boulevard, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:34 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The most recent weekend shooting occurred at 2:30 a.m. Saturday when an 18-year-old man was driving in the 2400 block of South Rockwell Street when he heard shots and felt pain in his lower back, police said.

He drove himself to nearby St. Anthony Hospital where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound to the lower left back, police said.

About 10:55 p.m. Friday, a 37-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 6800 block of South Wood Street, when a gunman approached and opened fire, striking the man in the right leg before fleeing, police said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in “stable” condition, police said.

No arrests have been made in connection with any of the shootings as detectives continue to investigate the attacks.
