When he departed the U.S. Attorney's Office, Patrick Fitzgerald said he wanted to continue in public service, and so Governor Quinn has persuaded him to take a seat on the board of the University of Illinois which is recovering from a student admissions scandal.

Quinn is delighted to get Fizgerald.

"I think we aspire at all times to excellence. I think Patrick Fitzgerald was an excellent public servant," Quinn said.

Fitzgerald accepting Quinn's appointment doesn't do Quinn any harm. Fitzgerald, afterall, sent Quinn's two predeccessors to prison but apparently has confidence in Quinn.
