(CHICAGO) A suspended Chicago pharmacist has been indicted for obtaining counterfeit Viagra and Cialis from China and dispensing the medications at a north side pharmacy.
According to the indictment, Michael Markiewicz, owner of Belmont Pharmacy, ordered three shipments of counterfeit Viagra from China, including an order that also contained Cialis. He then trafficked the counterfeit drugs from his pharmacy between December 2010 and August 2012.
Markiewicz, 36, of Norridge has been charged with eight counts of violating federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, four counts of trafficking in counterfeit drugs or goods using a counterfeit mark and three counts of smuggling.
The indictment also seeks forfeiture of his business premises and residence.
