It may or may not have been the luck of the Irish, but a Powerball player came remarkably close to winning the multi-state lottery game’s $216 million jackpot Saturday night. As it is, the player, who bought their ticket at a store in the Bucktown neighborhood, missed the grand prize by one number, but will still collect $1 million.
The winning numbers in Saturday night’s drawing were: 03 - 07 - 21 - 44 and 53, and the Power Ball number was 16.
No one matched all six numbers, but someone who bought their ticket at the Grisel Jr. Food & Liquor store at 2000 N. Leavitt St. matched five of five numbers, and will collect $1 million, according to the Illinois Lottery.
Two other Illinois players matched four of five numbers and the Powerball, and they will each collect $10,000.
The next Powerball drawing, with a jackpot of $260,000, will be held on Wednesday.
