American Airlines was experiencing a problem with its reservation and booking system on Tuesday which has led to a system-wide grounding of its fleet.
The airline Tweeted, “Our reservation & booking tool Sabre is offline. We’re working to resolve as quickly as we can. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
American Airlines later clarified in a tweet: “The issue is w/ our ability to access our res system & not w/ @SabreNews. We apologize to Sabre & customers for confusion.”
The airline then Tweeted, “We are now in a system-wide ground delay until 4:00 p.m. CT as we work to resolve this issue.”
An AA spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
Flights are experiencing a “ground stop” for flights arriving to O’Hare due to “airline automation,” according to the FAA website.
