Senator Durbin is calling sequestration a manufactured crisis causing horrible choices.

 

At Northwestern Memorial Hospital Durbin told reporters sequestration will cost Illinois alone $38 million of medical research in the next 7 months which he says will cost lives, "There's no doubt in my mind that some of the cuts made to medical research will have a direct impact on lives and the quality of lives. It just stands to reason."

 

Durbin says a much better alternative is to close some tax loopholes, but Republicans say that would be an unacceptable tax increase.
