(CHICAGO) Seven people – one of them a pizza deliveryman who was stabbed multiple times in a robbery -- were injured in acts of violence in Chicago since Friday night.
About 6:30 p.m., a 34-year-old man was shot in the Lawndale neighborhood. The shooting happened in the 4000 block of West 16th Street, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien said.
The victim was shot in the abdomen area and his family took him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, O’Brien said.
About 8 p.m., a pizza deliveryman was stabbed five times in a robbery in the South Chicago neighborhood. The attack happened in the 8500 block of South Green Bay Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss said.
The deliveryman called the customer when he arrived at the home, police said. The suspect stabbed the deliveryman in a gangway, then took the food and cash and ran. The 40-year-old victim was taken in serious condition to South Shore Hospital, police said.
A 16-year-old boy was in serious condition after he was shot in the neck Friday night on the South Side. The teen was in a car in the 200 block of East 51st Street when he was shot once in the neck about 11 p.m., police said.
The boy was then driven to Mercy Hospital where he was dropped off, police said, but was later transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County for treatment.
Early Sunday, one person was shot in the arm and one person was stabbed in the back in the Montclare neighborhood on the Far Northwest Side, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
Both males made it to Resurrection Hospital on their own about 3:20 a.m., though their ages and conditions were not yet known early Sunday.
About 15 minutes later, a male was shot in the leg in the 4000 block of West 47th Street in the Southwest Side Archer Heights neighorhood. Details on his age and condition were not immediately released.
The most recent shooting happened about 4:55 a.m. Sunday, when a female was shot in the leg in the 800 block of West Jackson Boulevard in the West Loop. She was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where she was listed in “stable” condition.
No one is in custody, though police say several people have been questioned.
