JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Trees and power lines are down and thousands are without power after strong storms ripped through several states in the South and central U.S. overnight.

There are reports of possible tornadoes in Arkansas.

A man was killed in Nashville, Tenn., when a tree fell on the shed where he took shelter.

Forecasters are blaming rapidly changing temperatures for the dangerous weather.
