(WASHINGTON) In light of reports of the IRS singling out and scrutinizing conservative groups before the 2012 Elections, U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski (IL-3) is calling for action on the IRS.
"This abuse of power must be investigated thoroughly so we can get to the bottom of this matter as soon as possible. We need to know who was involved, who knew about it and when, and what was done when these actions came to light."
Lipinski's remarks echoed the President's statements about the reports; both said the supposed actions are outrageous and go against our country's values.
The reports in question say a small number of staffers in an Ohio field office may have singled out groups for auditing if they used terms like "patriot" or "tea party" on their tax-exempt forms.
