An Iraq War veteran reportedly suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome has been arraigned in Texas on charges of murdering former Navy Weal sniper Chris Kyle and another man at a shooting range.

Vietnam veteran, Alderman Jim Balcer, is upset about it. Balcer salutes Kyle for trying to help soldiers with PTSD, but he can't understand why a shooting range was part of the therapy, "Chris is to be commended and remembered for all of this, but I just question the wisdom. If you know someone with PTSD, you should go immediately to the VA and ask for help, ask for counseling. I don't believe training someone with a weapon was the right way to go. Putting a weapon back in his hand as some sort of therapy, I question the wisdom of that."

Balcer says if a person is unstable, he or she should not be around weapons.

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (AP) - Former Navy SEAL and expert sniper Chris Kyle was devoted to helping his fellow veterans navigate life after active duty.

Authorities say the 38-year-old Kyle was doing just that Saturday when he was slain along with a friend at a Texas gun range.

Police have charged 25-year-old Edie Ray Routh, of Lancaster, a former Marine, with murder in the deaths of Kyle and his friend 35-year-old Chad Littlefield.

Sgt. Lonny Haschel with Texas Department of Public Safety says Erath County deputies responded to a shooting at the Rough Creek Lodge on Saturday and found the bodies Kyle and Littlefield. Police have not said whether they have identified a motive in the case.
