A woman was sexually assaulted and robbed Wednesday morning near an L stop in the Rogers Park neighborhood.

The attacker confronted the woman about 5:45 a.m. at the Red Line’s Morse station and forced her to a nearby construction site where he sexually assaulted her, Chicago police said.

He then stole the woman’s purse and was last seen fleeing south from Lunt on Glenwood Avenue.

The 50-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital where she was in stable condition, authorities said.

The man was seen loitering in the vicinity — including around the L stop — in the 6 hours leading up to the attack, said Veejay Zala, a police spokesperson.

In fact, the Chicago Transit Authority cameras captured footage of a man in the area around the time of the attack and who police want to question.

“Let’s identify this guy and get him...in here so detectives can have a word with him,” Zala said.

Police described the man as between the ages of 20 and 25, about 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall and medium weight. He is black with a medium complexion and has short black hair, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area North police detectives at 312- 744-8200.
