Facebook quarrel leads to standoff, SWAT team response in west suburbs

(AURORA TWP.)  A fight between two men over a Facebook post led to a two-and-a-half hour standoff that ended with a SWAT team raiding a west suburban home earlier this week.

About 10:40 p.m. Monday, officers were called to a home in the 0-100 block of Johns Lane in unincorporated Aurora Township, where a man told police another man, later identified as Oscar Guzman, had pointed a gun at his head during a fight over a Facebook post, according to a statement from the Kane County Sheriff’s office.

Deputies tried for 15 minutes to get Guzman, 26, to come out of the house, and when he emerged with a 20-year-old woman they recovered a toy gun, police said.

Police then found out another man, later identified as 33-year-old David Oslund, was still inside the home along with another woman and a 3-year-old child.

No one inside the house responded to deputies for more than an hour, so a Kane County SWAT team was called in case the woman and child were being held hostage, police said. Two-and-a-half hours later the team broke in and arrested Oslund.

The woman and child weren’t held against their will, police said. Neither woman was arrested, and the child was unharmed.

The relationships of the people involved in the incident weren’t identified by the sheriff’s office.

Guzman was charged with aggravated assault, and Oslund was held on warrants for residential burglary and possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Guzman, of the 1300 block of Crown Street in Montgomery, was released from the Kane County Jail on Wednesday morning, according to online jail records, but his bond information wasn’t immediately available.

Oslund, of the 1100 block of Gilmore Street in Aurora, remains in custody on an $80,750 bond, according to the sheriff’s office.

Their next court dates weren’t immediately known.
