Police report three Portage Park home burglaries in April

(CHICAGO) Police are warning Portage Park residents of home burglaries this month in the Northwest Side neighborhood.

In each of the three burglaries, at least one person has entered the apartment or house through windows or doors and has stolen electronics, jewelry, cash and other items, Area North detectives said in a community alert.

The incidents happened on the following dates and locations:

Between 11 p.m. and 1:40 a.m. April 6 to April 7, in the 5100 block of West Montrose
Unknown time between April 9 to April 14, in the 5500 block of West Hutchinson
1:30 p.m. on April 15, in the 4300 block of North Monitor
Any one with information is asked to call detectives at (312) 744-8263.

Police warn of North Side apartment burglaries

(CHICAGO) Police are warning residents on the North Side after three recent home burglaries in the Lake View and Uptown neighborhoods.

In each incident, burglars entered apartments by force or through unlocked doors, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

Two apartments were burglarized between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Feb. 22 in the 900 block of West Dakin and the 900 block of West Irving Park, police said. Another apartment was burglarized about 11 a.m. Feb. 16 in the 3600 block of North Fremont.

From the incident on Fremont, the offender was described as a white male wearing black rimmed glasses, police said.

Burglars targeting electronics, jewelry in North Side homes

(Chicago)  Police issued a community alert Thursday warning North Side residents of a string of recent burglaries in the Lincoln Square and West Ridge neighborhoods.

At least one burglar breaks into an apartment or home, and takes electronics, jewelry and cash, according to the alert from Area North detectives.

Five burglaries have taken place since Feb. 1:

—in the 5900 block of North Richmond about 3 p.m. Feb. 1;

—in the 2600 block of West Berwyn about 9 a.m. Feb. 5;

—in the 2600 block of West Berwyn about 9 a.m. Feb. 5;

—in the 2800 block of West Berwyn about 7:30 a.m. Feb. 10;

—and in the 2700 block of West Gregory about 3 p.m. on Feb. 11.

Burglars targeting Northwest Side homes

(Chicago)  Police are warning Northwest Side residents of a series of home burglaries in February.

At least one person breaks into homes through a window or door, and steals electronics, jewelry, cash and other items, according to a community alert issued by Chicago Police.

The burglaries happened in:

—5800 block of West Eastwood between 12-11 a.m. on Feb. 9;

—5600 block of West Eastwood between 12:40-2:50 p.m. on Feb. 12;

—5700 block of North Manton between 11 a.m. -7:30 p.m. on Feb. 13; and

—5900 block of North Nagle between 1-6 p.m. on Feb. 18.

Police advise residents to make sure all doors and windows are locked, and to pay attention to anyone suspicious loitering in the area.

Police warn of garage burglaries on Northwest Side

(CHICAGO) Police are cautioning residents of several Northwest Side neighborhoods after several garage burglaries have been reported in the last month.

According to an alert from Area North detectives, the burglaries occurred:

-About 11:52 p.m. on Jan. 15 in the 4900 block of North Tripp;

-Between 5:45 p.m. Jan. 15 and 1:30 a.m. Jan. 16 in the 3500 block of North Kilpatrick;

-Between 12 a.m. and 6:35 a.m. on Feb. 8 in the 3800 block of North Lawndale;

-Between 11 p.m. Feb. 14 and 10 a.m. Feb. 15 in the 3700 block of North Central Park;

-Between 7 p.m. Feb. 14 and 4:15 p.m. Feb. 15 in the 4000 block of North Harding;

-Between 11 p.m. Feb. 15 and 4 a.m. Feb. 16 in the 3900 block of North Kimball

In each burglary, an “unknown vehicle is used to force open” the overhead garage door and suspects take property from inside, police said. In two cases, the overhead door was damage, but no property was taken.

No description of suspects was available, but a black minivan was seen driving down the alley away from a damaged garage in one of the burglaries, police said.

Series of home burglaries reported in West Town

(Chicago)  Police are warning residents about a series of residential burglaries this month in the West Town neighborhood.

In the reported burglaries, one or more people used a pry tool to break into homes and steal property, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The break-ins occurred in the:

—700 block of North Leavitt about 8:45 a.m. Feb. 5;

—1400 block of West Chicago about 5:30 p.m. Feb. 5;

—800 block of North Hermitage about 12:15 p.m. Feb. 6; and

—1800 block of West Superior about 11 a.m. Feb. 9.

Two burglaries reported Friday afternoon in Palos Park

(PALOS PARK) Police in southwest suburban Palos Park are warning residents about a pair of burglaries reported Friday afternoon.

The burglaries occurred in the mid afternoon in the 12400 block of Wolf Road and on Old Creek Road near Wolf, according to a statement from Palos Park police. In each instance, the burglar forced entry through the home’s back door.

While investigators do not yet have a suspect description, they believe the same person is responsible for both burglaries, police said.

Police are urging residents to keep their doors and windows securely locked and report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 911.

Five charged in string of west suburban car burglaries

(BATAVIA) Five Naperville residents are charged in a string of vehicle burglaries throughout the Tri-Cities area in the western suburbs, and some victims may get their items back, according to police.

They were arrested after a resident in the 600 block of Blackhawk Drive in Batavia saw them trying to break into a neighbor’s vehicle about 3:51 a.m., Batavia police said in a statement.

The group drove off when the resident confronted them, but officers were able to find their vehicle using a partial license plate number, police said.

Police stopped the vehicle in the 400 block of Main Street and found five people inside, as well as numerous items stolen from vehicles, authorities said. They claim the group is responsible for burglarizing unlocked cars throughout Batavia, St. Charles and Geneva.

All five suspects live in Naperville, and are charged with seven counts each of felony burglary to a motor vehicle, police said. They include:

•    Christine L. Flood, 19, of the 1000 block of Mill Street;

•    Amanda E. Gonzalez, 20, of the 1100 block of North Mill Street;

•    Julian P. Pecoraro, 19, of the 500 block of Cassen Road;

•    Brennan M. Rafferty, 19, of the 700 block of Benedetti Drive; and

•    Austin J. Smith, 21, of the 1800 block of Hilltop Court.

All five were taken to the Kane County Jail and will appear in court for a bond hearing Saturday, police said.

Police have recovered a large quantity of stolen items in the case. Anyone who had items stolen from their vehicles should contact their local police department to file a report.

The investigation is ongoing as additional victims come forward to claim their belongings, police said.

Antioch man charged after string of north suburban burglaries

(WAUKEGAN) An Antioch man has been charged after a series of burglaries in the north suburbs.

Michael S. Roman, 29, faces felony counts of residential burglary and theft, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office.

Detectives had been investigating the burglaries throughout Antioch Township and on Monday tracked down Roman, who was carrying items taken during a recent burglary in the 38000 block of North 3rd Avenue in unincorporated Fox Lake, police said.

Roman, of the 4200 block of North Lake Drive in Antioch, was ordered held on a $50,000 bond, police said. He is next due in court Feb. 23.

Police issue alert after Loop home burglaries

(Chicago)  Police issued an alert after three recent burglaries in the Loop.

The robberies occurred in late December and early January, where at least one person forcibly entered a home by prying doors open, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

The robberies occurred:

—Dec. 20, at 3:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of South State;

—Dec. 31, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Michigan; and

—Jan. 5, between 1-3 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Federal.

Police: 4 cell phone stores burglarized on NW Side in last month

(Chicago)  Police are warning Northwest Side business owners after a string of four burglaries at Irving Park neighborhood cell phone stores over the past month.

Burglars have thrown bricks through the front windows of stores or pried open doors to steal phones, money and other merchandise, according to a community alert from Albany Park District Chicago Police.

The burglaries happened:

–Nov. 23, about 10 p.m. in the 3700 block of North Elston;

–Dec. 3, about 1:35 a.m. in the 3900 block of North Kimball;

–Dec. 12, about 1:55 a.m. in the 4000 block of West Montrose; and

–Dec. 16, about 7:20 a.m. in the 4000 block of West Montrose.

Two males were seen in one incident and three wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks were seen in another, but police do not have a detailed description of the possible burglars.

Six recent burglaries in West Ridge, Lincoln Square

(Chicago)  Police are warning about six recent burglaries in the West Ridge and Lincoln Square neighborhoods on the North Side.

In each burglary, the suspect or suspects enter apartments or homes by force, then take electronics, jewelry, cash and other items, according to an alert from Area North detectives.

The burglaries happened at the following locations:

—5400 block of North Artesian at 7 a.m. Nov. 13;

—5700 block of North Talman at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 17;

—5700 block of North Fairfield at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 25;

—5600 block of North Talman at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 29;

—5400 block of North Virginia at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 4; and

—5800 block of North Artesian at noon Tuesday.

Residents should make sure all doors and windows are locked, and pay attention to suspicious people or vehicles, police said.
