Teen boy killed, another airlifted to Christ after Kankakee crash

(KANKAKEE) A 15-year-old boy was killed and three others were injured in a crash Sunday night in downstate Kankakee.

A 2013 Hyundai was traveling southbound at 9:49 p.m. Sunday at Route 17 and West Avenue and did not yield at the T-intersection and struck a westbound 2008 Pontiac, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.

A 15-year-old boy who was a passenger in the Pontiac was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. His name was not released Monday.

The 16-year-old boy driving the Pontiac was injured and airlifted to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. Both boys were from downstate Reddick.

Carmella Larson, 33, was the driver of the Hyundai and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to yield, police said. She and the 32-year-old man who was her passenger were also injured and taken to a local hospital, police said. They are both from St. Anne.

Bicyclist struck by SUV, critically injured in Bridgeport

(CHICAGO) A man was critically injured Monday afternoon when he was struck by an SUV in the Bridgeport neighborhood on the South Side.

Joshua Thomas, 26, was driving a 2000 Dodge Durango in the 3500 block of South Lowe Avenue about 6 p.m. when he made a U-turn and struck a bicyclist, according to Chicago Police.

The bicyclist, a 47-year-old man, was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, police said, adding that he suffered a fractured pelvis.

Thomas, who lives in the 6200 block of South King Drive, was charged with reckless driving, driving on a revoked license and operating an uninsured vehicle, all misdemeanors, police said. He was also issued traffic citations for failure to exercise due care for a pedestrian in the roadway, failure to stay in his lane and executing an improper U-turn. He is scheduled to appear in traffic court June 21.

Police: 1 killed in crash on Dan Ryan Expressway

(CHICAGO) A female was killed early Monday when her SUV crashed into a concrete barrier and pole on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side, police said.

The female, whose age was not known, was involved in the single-vehicle crash about 1:40 a.m. in the inbound lanes of the Dan Ryan near 87th Street, according to Illinois State Police. She was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated.

She was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 2:30 a.m., police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

Police said all lanes of the expressway were open to traffic as of 2:30 a.m. Additional details on the crash were not immediately available.

Two Chicago Police squad cars struck during traffic pursuit

(CHICAGO) Three people were arrested late Wednesday after the vehicle they were in struck two police squad cars during a chase in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

About 11:20 p.m., officers were in a traffic pursuit near Newport and Linder when the vehicle they were chasing struck two police squad cars, according to preliminary information from Chicago Police.

The vehicle was stopped at School and Cicero, and three people inside were arrested, police said.

No officers were injured. Additional information was not available at 2 a.m.
