Seg #1 – Caitlin Huey-Burns – A tight runoff election in Ohio’s 12th District between Republican Troy Balderson who had 50 percent, (101,574 votes), while Democrat Danny O’Connor had 49 percent (99,820 votes). With the decision still awaiting a final tally, the outcome is a strong alarm to GOP leaders who need to save the seat when it comes up again in the fall general election. Can Democrats find enough votes to take the seat away after 35 years of Republican control.
Seg #2 – A.B. Stoddard – The successor for Speaker of the House, currently held by Wisconsin Representative, Paul Ryan heats up as expected successor Kevin McCarthy confronts President Donald Trump’s support of Ohio Representative, Jim Jordan who added his name into the consideration list last week. On the other side of the aisle, can Nancy Pellosi keep her seat as Minority Leader and who (if anybody) could take her place?
Seg #3 – Kristen McQueary – Chicago Mayor, Rahm Emanuel has a gang and crime problem and while he acknowledges the situation, it appears that he can only push the blame to others, including Governor, Bruce Rauner. With calls for his resignation from religious leaders and challenges from nine declared candidates currently running against him; Emanuel has several battles to fight in addition to ramping up his re-election campaign.
Seg #4 – Carl Cannon – Infowars and it’s mouthpiece, Alex Jones has has several social media accounts (Facebook, iTunes, YouTube, Pinterest, MailChimp, and more) suspended or postings pulled because of their content which have been classified as “hate speech” and “misinformation”. Where do these organizations draw the line between free speech and censorship and are they playing by the same rules? The first few pre-season games in the NFL’s new season have taken place and player protests during the National Anthem continued… as did President Trump’s comments about it.
Former Blackhawks players file a lawsuit against NFL

Update: NFL ‘Draft Town’ traffic disrupted by protesters
(CHICAGO) Demonstrators wearing chains briefly blocked traffic on Lake Shore Drive on Saturday, using the NFL’s “Draft Town” as a backdrop to draw attention to police brutality and massive budget cuts at Chicago State University, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting.
The protests were organized by the activist groups Black Lives Matter and Assata’s Daughters.
Police said 17 protesters, all women, were arrested. The women wrapped themselves in chains before walking across Lake Shore Drive near Jackson around noon, as the NFL Draft festivities hosted by the city were under way in Grant Park.
All 17 were charged with misdemeanor counts of obstructing traffic and were released on their own recognizance Saturday night, police said.
The groups called on the Chicago Police Department to fire Officer Dante Servin, who fatally shot 22-year-old Rekia Boyd in 2012 but was acquitted of murder charges by a Cook County judge last year. Servin has remained with the department, even as former Supt. Garry McCarthy moved to fire him in December amid a wave of protests that began after the city released video of another officer gunning down 17-year-old Laquan McDonald with a barrage of 16 shots.
On Friday, Chicago State announced more than 300 non-faculty positions were being cut at the largely black South Side school because of funding shortfalls linked to the state’s ongoing budget crisis.
The protesters complained that hosting the Draft Town and other NFL-related activities costs the city millions.

Downtown street closures begin ahead of NFL Draft
(CHICAGO) With a few days to go before football’s future finest converge on Chicago for the 2015 NFL Draft, drivers should be ready to tackle some traffic headaches downtown as crews prepare for the event.
Road closures near Grant Park and Roosevelt University started at 6 a.m. Wednesday, with Congress Parkway closed to traffic between Michigan and Columbus until May 8, according to the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications. Crews are putting finishing touched on a “Draft Town” of outdoor fan activities for the April 30-May 2 event.
Closures expanded starting at 6 a.m. Monday, with Columbus shut down from Balbo to Jackson through May 4, officials said.
On Thursday, additional closures from 3-11 p.m. include:
• Congress between Michigan and Columbus – including Congress Circle – until May 8.
• Columbus between Balbo and Jackson until May 4.
• Michigan between Balbo and Jackson.
• Wabash between Harrison and Jackson.
• Van Buren between Michigan and State.
• Congress between Michigan and State.
