(Chicago) A developing storm that might move into the Chicago area on Christmas Eve could dump heavy, wet snow on the region and have a significant impact on holiday travelers.
A “powerful storm system” is expected to develop in the Mississippi Valley and move north into the Great Lakes region on Wednesday, according to a special weather statement from the National Weather Service.
The storm could bring a period of heavy, wet accumulating snow to the region during the day and into Wednesday night, the weather service said. The snow could lead to “very hazardous” travel conditions.
The storm is still in the developing stages, and any deviations from the forecast track and intensity could significantly change the threat of snow, the weather service said.
